The Full Guide To Nail Drill Bits

Oct. 16, 2020

High-quality nail flakes can not only shave off the nails. Nail drill bits come in a variety of materials, shapes, sizes, and grit. Each type of drill has different uses and purposes.

In this section, we will explain the nail drill bits of different materials. These four materials are the most common: mandrel/sanding band, Carbide bits, Ceramic bits, and Diamond bits.

Mandrel bits are usually made of metal or rubber. You can slip the mandrel top into the sanding band and you good to go. The sanding band cannot be disinfected. This is one of the reasons why sanding bands are disposable paper bits, so you have to replace the sanding band after each client. Conveyor belts are commonly used for surface treatment, gel removal, and pedicure. They have various kinds of coarse sand: coarse sand, medium sand, and fine sand.

carbide drill bit

The carbide bit is made of cemented carbide metal (20 times stronger than steel). Carbide drill bits are for durability. They have groove-like cuts on the carbide drill bits. These cuts enable the carbide drill bit to scrape off the nail product, instead of scratching it like a diamond drill bit. The grid-scale is determined by the groove on the drill bit. Dip and large flutes give you coarse grit. A shallower flute usually indicates a finer bit. Carbide drill bit is a great tool for advanced users and ideal for removing acrylic resin. They cannot be used on natural nails. The carbide drill bit can be cleaned.

Ceramic drill bit

The advantage of ceramic-coated bits is that, due to the nature of ceramic drills, they do not heat up in the same way as other drills. They are also durable. Ceramic drill bits also have flute-shaped cuts, which help the drill bit to scrape off the product. You can find ceramic fragments in several grids, such as medium-coarse and fine coarse. Ceramic fragments can also be cleaned and disinfected.

Diamond drill bit

Diamond drill bits can be obtained from natural or synthetic tools and are currently the hardest drill bits. They are used to scrape away accumulated products but compared to the aforementioned drill bits, they generate more dust and friction, which generates more heat. It will not rust after disinfection. Most cuticle drill bits are made of diamonds.
